Reasoning Skills

This is essentially a multiple choice exam testing Verbal, Numerical and Abstract Reasoning skills. Reasoning skills tests are a type of psychometric test used in occupational psychology. They are designed to evaluate one's capacity to draw sound conclusions, recognise patterns, and solve problems using the information provided. Currently, all EPSO candidates, including CAST, take this test as part of the selection process.

In-person testing has been completely eliminated from the selection process. All EPSO tests are now remotely proctored. The downside of online testing is that the current testing platform does not allow for highlighting, circling or marking parts of questions, and for numerical reasoning the on-screen calculator is very basic, and the on-screen scratchpad difficult to use (based on feedback from EPSO candidates who have taken the tests).
