Hot off the press: EPSO has published new information about the AD5 Graduates competition this morning
The European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) has confirmed the key eligibility details and timeline for the upcoming AD5 open competition - the EU’s main entry route for graduates.
To be clear: applications are not open yet, but the starting date and conditions are now official. The full details about eligibilty rules, qualifications, application steps and the selection tests will be covered in the official Notice of Competition.
What EPSO has confirmed
- Applications open: 5 February 2026
- this is also when the Notice of Competition will become available
- Application deadline: 10 March 2026, 12:00 (midday), Brussels time
- Eligible candidates: graduates from any field of study
- Goal: create a reserve list from which EU institutions, bodies and agencies can recruit AD5 administrators
What AD5 administrators typically do
Successful candidates usually work in:
- Policy development and formulation
- Policy implementation and operational delivery
- Resource and programme management
All roles are carried out in multicultural teams, contributing to policies that affect citizens across the EU.
Why this announcement matters
- The AD5 Generalist competition is the largest and most accessible EPSO competition:
- No subject-specific degree required
- Designed as the main graduate entry point into the EU civil service
- A confirmed timeline means preparation can now be planned properly
This is the signal many candidates were waiting for: the door is opening, and now there is finally a date on it.
There will be a live info webcast on 6 February with András Baneth where he will guide you through the most important details of the Notice of Competition.
